Graduation Timeline

Important Graduation Dates

  • May 28th – ICBC Safe Driving Presentation for grade 11 and grade 12 students at 12:30pm – Large Gym
  • June 9th – Athletic Banquet – 4:00pm-6pm in the FKSS Dome
  • June 10th Awards Assembly in the morning and Scholarship and Bursary Evening at 6:30pm
  • **Those winning an award in the evening will be notified ahead of the event – watch for email and/or phone call
  • June 11th- District Indigenous Grad celebration.  5:00pm at Cowichan Bay
  • June 13th – Dry Grad and Banquet (arranged by parents and the Dry Grad Committee)
  • **June 15th – Grad Walk up practice #1 at 10:15am.
  • **Tickets and grad cap and gowns will be handed out at this practice.  Grads must have all outstanding fees paid, textbook/library books returned, and Capstone/District Scholarship completed before tickets and gowns are given out.  All grads will receive 4 tickets to the Cap and Gown Ceremony and can request more.  Extra tickets will be allocated depending on space.
  • June 16th and 17th – Exam days.  Tues is AABB and Wed is CCDD
  • June 18th – Grad walk up practice #2 at 9:00am
  • June 18th – Student -led fun activities on the upper filed (times and details to follow)
  • June 19th – Last day of classes
  • June 19th  – at 6:30pm – FKSS Cap and Gown ceremony – Large Gym
  • June 22nd and 23rd – Completion Days
  • June 25th – Summary Learning Updates ready for pick up

All fees must be paid, which includes overdue/lost books and student fees, before you are allowed to participate in the grad ceremony.

CLC 12 Capstone Explanation and Video sample:

  • Sample Video of student projects – this is a good sample from another school of what a CLC 12 Capstone can look like (all these students spent an average of 40 hours on their project).

Grad Requirements

Students must earn a minimum of 80 credits: required credits (48), elective credits (28), and Career Life Education 12 (4). Listed below are the requirements for graduation. Note: Students going on to postsecondary need to fulfill BC Ministry of Education Graduation Requirements in addition to the “entrance” requirements for their specific post-secondary program.

Dry Grad Fundraising

Dry Grad is a spectacular and safe no alcohol or drugs end of high school event organized by the parents of graduating students. Since the inception of Dry Grad in 1989, there have been no fatalities in the Cowichan Valley on Dry Grad night.

If you are a parent of a student who will graduate in the next year and want to help plan and fundraise for this wonderful evening, please let us know! You can email the front desk secretary and leave your name to be contacted.

Awards & Financial Aid

There are many organizations that offer yearly bursaries and scholarships and we post whatever we receive on our GRAD TEAM.

Every year we have a Microsoft Team with all our graduates and a channel is dedicated to what we call “External Bursaries and Scholarships.” 

Remax Quest, Loran, and Schulich Leaders are three that are regularly posted in the early fall. Grads can subscribe for notifications to come from that channel so they know when anything new is posted.
