These assessments are currently mandatory for a Dogwood graduation: Literacy 10, Numeracy 10, and Literacy 12.
Scheduled times for individual students to write are posted on the bulletin board between counselling and the library entrance approximately a week before the assessment windows in November, January, April, and June. Advisors are also sent scheduled times for their students. Parents are emailed with a general notice of the assessment windows but can contact their child’s advisor for more info. They can also email the data clerk at fkssdatasecretary@sd79.bc.ca or contact the vice-principal responsible for assessments.
It VERY IMPORTANT that students show up at their scheduled time for the assessment as the Ministry windows are hard deadlines and we have approximately 900 students to schedule. There is very little room for re-scheduling within each session, but if it is necessary, students need to see our data secretary as soon as possible to request another time.
Information for the current year can be found on the Ministry of Education’s Graduation Assessment Schedule . There is also a calendar for quick reference.
In order to meet graduation requirements and be awarded a British Columbia Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma), students must earn a minimum of 80 credits (see our Attendance and Reporting page for more info) and write the following three mandatory provincial assessments:
